Dear Friends in Christ,
I hope that you had a blessed Thanksgiving and a good weekend. Mine was topped off with good news that my college beat our arch-nemesis (by just 4 points). Go Virginia Tech! I also enjoyed a little drive around with Ron and Emily looking at lights.
We enjoyed the presence of just 12 people in worship yesterday. One of them was Kayla Cherry! How great to see her in town for the holiday. Many have been out of town, or feeling a little under the weather. I am sure that we will see a boost in attendance this Sunday, for Communion Sunday. Thank you to David Goldston for getting out the Advent Wreath and to Robin Cherry for finding much larger Advent candles!
Reminder: A service for Teresa Gallegos-Brake will be on Saturday, December 4th at 10 AM, followed by a graveside service where she will be interred with her husband, Troy. I will be asking our Deacons to help us coordinate some food to be delivered to Teresa's house on Saturday. (20-30 people) Missing her every day! A service for Pat Sieglen is still in the works. We do not have a date set yet.
Hanging of the Greens: Tomorrow - Tuesday - let's meet at 5:15pm (or show up at 6, if you aren't able to come sooner) and we'll get out the Christmas decorations. Kenna and Marge are bringing a meal! (I might bring pie)
Wednesday Night Bible Study: At 5:15PM, let's meet up again (bring a sandwich if you're hungry), and we'll dive into the letter of James, a beautiful expression of traditional wisdom and ethics for the ancient church, but has application for us today.
