Grace and Peace be with you all in the name of our Savior Jesus Christ!
I hope that you are all well and healthy.  Our church services lately have been blessedly "full."  Ever since we re-opened our doors for public worship, we have held steady in attendance every week, always about 22 or 21 people.  Another sign that we missed each other!

Also, we had a little gathering for game night on Friday evening.  We'd like to do another one in the near future.  All that we ask is that when we attend such events, we practice safe distancing and wear protective gear when sitting close to each other.

We enjoyed a visitor by the name of Jerry Partin, a former Rattler, who is considering moving back here from California. Please think of him in your prayers as he discerns his next step in life.

Monday, July 6, Green Chile Gals will resume gathering after work.  All ladies of the church are invited to join us in Fellowship Hall for a little potluck style meal.  Hope you can make it!

This day in history... did you know this day in 1995, the US Space Shuttle Atlantis docked with the Russian space station Mir?  They formed the largest human-made satellite in history on that day.  The Americans brought them flowers, chocolate and fruit and the Russians greeted them with traditional Russian bread and salt.  I have often thought about the troubles and turmoil of this world, where we are seeing division and hatred.  It seems to me that in the serious worlds of science and exploration, we have examples of persons who look past their differences in the name of something much greater - knowledge.  https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history

Raymond Martinez Service:  Thanks to everyone who attended/helped/hugged/delivered food/donated funds so that we could lay Raymond to rest.  Susie and Teresa will need our long-term love and prayers, but so far they are taking things "Un Dia de la Vez" - For a link to the song (in Spanish), which I talked about during the service, you can go here.  https://youtu.be/jqax102ubds

Prayers
Ruby June Little and her mom, Tillie, following a difficult childbirth
Jerry
Kurt Goldston
Tom Anderson
Glenda Coles - preparing for neck surgery
The Martinez Family (particularly Susie, daughter Susan and Ray's sisters Teresa, Betty and Gloria)
Bruce Haas (Schusters' brother in law) - surgery July 6th
Healthcare providers, caregivers
Travelers (especially coming up on Independence Day!)
Elmer - neck and knee pain
Ruth Johnson - general health

Don't forget!
This week is a little quieter than last week.
Today, Wed and Fri - Exercise, Eat and Pray meets at 10:00AM
Tomorrow - Tuesday at noon Yoga!
Saturday - Celebrate Independence Day!  Give thanks to God.
Sunday, Holy Communion Sunday

I hope that you all have a blessed week.  May you have a safe and enjoyable Independence Day Holiday!
Much Love and Many Hugs,
Rev. Amy

Greetings in Christ!
Hope that 6/15/2020 is finding you well.  I think we had a good service yesterday, followed by a good Session meeting.

Thank you to all for your donations to assist Susie Martinez with Raymond's cremation.  It looks like they have enough for it.

We are tentatively setting a funeral date for this Saturday afternoon at about 2pm.  I will be in touch with the deacons as to how we might be able to provide some food for the family.

For our nation

Ruth Ann Litchfield - getting better
Elmer - knee and neck pain

Lastly, we want to have another game night in the near future.  If you want to do one, maybe at the end of the month, please let me know.

PictureAn ancient symbol of the Trinity from the catacombs.
Grace and Peace be with you!

We are officially into the swing of summer, both liturgically and weather-wise.  Yesterday we observed Trinity Sunday, a day to remember the doctrine of the Trinity and what it means to us.  Three distinct persons in one.  Their unity and distinctness can also remind us of how we can live as one.  Different as we are from each other, we are still able to find fellowship.

Yesterday was our first communion service in the same room since March!  Special thanks to Deacon Theresa Goldston for ensuring we had a communion service that met state health guidelines for COVID-19.

Announcements:
Game Night! Kenna is asking for your suggestions about when to have our next Game Night!  Usually these are on a Friday or Saturday night. It's a chance to hang out with each other, and include people from the community.
Session Meeting:  Session has their next Meeting this Sunday after church, June 14th.  I'm working on that agenda right now.
Church Cookbook:  Have you sent in your recipes yet?  Kenna is about ready to go to print on the 2020 Cookbook.  Please make sure you get them to her or to me as soon as possible, or let me know if you need more time.
Gallery, Etc. Furnishings Sale:  As you may have heard, the Gallery, Etc. is closing and are selling some of their furnishings.  There will be a sale this Saturday, June 13th at 8:00AM.  I think it is cash only, first-come, first-served.

This week:
MWF - 10:00AM Exercise, Eat and Pray
Tuesday - noon Yoga in Fellowship Hall

Prayers:
Ruth Ann Litchfield - home from hospital following infection
Susie and Raymond Martinez - both having health problems
Travelers, vacationers during COVID-19
Kurt Goldston - chemotherapy
Tom Anderson - chemotherapy
Rain!!
Jenna Morris - recovering from knee surgery
Elmer Schuster - knee and neck pain
For our nation where there is turmoil
For healthcare workers dealing with disease and death
For our leaders

Friends, I hope that you are all continuing to stay healthy and well.  If you have more to add to our prayer list, I hope you'll let me know at 575-708-0860.

New week, new month, summer is around the corner!  What are your summertime plans?  I'd like to know!

Many hugs and elbow bumps,
Rev. Amy

PictureAncient Symbols of the Trinity
The Lord be with you all!

Hope that this first week in June finds you well.

Sunday, June 7 will be our first holy communion together in worship.  Theresa Goldston will be the Deacon in charge.

As you know, our Elders had our first meeting in a while since the stay home policy began.  We discussed and agreed on several things which I am sure you have wondering about.  So, here it is:

Permissible with safe distancing:
Exercise groups (EEP and Yoga)
Quilters are welcome to return
Church-sanctioned activities and events (movie nights, game nights, etc.)
All Worship services and meetings
Protective face masks are optional.

Not yet permissible:

Donations to the Rummage Sale (let's give it a little more time.)
External organizations wishing to use our space.

Friends, I hope you can be patient with this next step in the process of reopening.  It is tempting to open everything up, but we aren't quite ready for that.  The Session will keep you apprised of developments.

Please remember to send Kenna (or me) your recipes for the next cookbook.

What a joy to have you in worship yesterday for Pentecost Sunday!

Recent Prayer Requests:
Our nation -  the unrest in our nation's cities
Coronavirus victims, healthcare providers and researchers
Those seeking work
Tom Anderson - chemotherapy and pain
Kurt Goldston - continuing chemo treatment (going well!)
Elmer - knee and neck pain
Those who are grieving or fearful
Jenna Morris - continuing to heal after knee surgery

This Sunday is called "Trinity Sunday."  It recognizes the doctrine of the Trinity.  Most special Sundays we recognize are of a certain moment in the Biblical history.  But Trinity Sunday takes what Scripture says about the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, culminating in a doctrine of this mystery of God.  Here is a link online to a description of Trinity Sunday:  https://www.presbyterianmission.org/ministries/worship/christianyear/trinity-sunday/

I hope that all of you have a great week!  May God bless you and keep you until we meet again.
Much love,
Amy
