As you probably are aware, Dear Friends in Christ, General Assembly met last week and decisions were made.

I invite you to take a look at a summary of what those decisions are here:  Click!

If you feel like a brush up lesson on what in the heck the GA does, you can check out this information page:  Click!

We will be holding a brunch time meeting at the Denny's this week on Wednesday, June 25 at 10:30AM, Dutch Treat.  If you have a Book of Order, you might bring one, or download one for free here (don't print, just save, or it will take forever):  Click!

Hope you can come!  If you cannot but want to, just let me know.

Pictureon the way home from Clovis
Dear Friends and Members of First Pres Tucum!  The Lord be with you.

A special thank you to Sharon Huffman for preaching yesterday.  I hear it went well!

I worshiped at First Presbyterian in Clovis and got the chance to see how they do it, which is always an interesting opportunity.  I love you all but it's always interesting to visit a different church.

After worship and a potluck, I had the pleasure of talking with them and listening to their needs from and expectations of the presbytery of Sierra Blanca.  Their concerns closely mirrored what we have heard around the presbytery.  Thank you for your patience and support as I work on this commission.  Our interview phase will wrap up on June 30th.

Every one of those interviews so far have called for better communication, both to keep our churches informed about matters and to listen to one another's needs.  We too face similar troubles, as we seek to bridge the gap between the electronic world and the non-electronic world.  Communicating the gospel indiscriminately is our calling. Jesus told us, "Make disciples of all nations..."  That's pretty much everyone!  The disciples didn't have to contend with who had email and who didn't but they had to bridge other types of gaps, language gaps, culture gaps and religious ones.

We continue to offer some opportunities this week to invite our community and bridge the gap with them:

Tuesday noon:  Send over those friends of yours who do yoga.
Tuesday 1PM-6PM the Quay-Z-Quilters cover Fellowship Hall.
Wednesday night movie at 6:00PM "Courageous" - a PG-13 movie about family, faith and friendship.  It was pretty popular with the younger set when it came out.  Bring your own munchies and invite your neighbors! For more information click here: Courageous
Sunday, June 29 is a 5th Sunday for worship.  Let's pack the house.  We're drawing our hymns out of a hat this time.
Sunday, 1:30PM   bell choir practice.

Do you want me to visit you?  Please call or text me.  I am free a lot this week.

God be with you till we meet again,
Amy Pospichal

PictureOne of our most recent church visitors, Guinness McKenzie!
Grace and peace be with you today, in Jesus Christ:I hope that your Father's Day was a special day.  We had a special one at First Pres, with a potluck fellowship supper and a purely enjoyable time.

Thanks to Marj McKenzie, Yvette McFarland and Kenna McKenzie-Young for helping put it on, and to all who helped us clean up.  (We have so many "Mc's" in our church, you know it's a Presbyterian church!)

Did you see any of the World Cup yesterday?  Team USA held on with tenacity against the dominating Ghana team.  Our winning goal came from the corner kick in the last few minutes, which bounced from one American's head to another and into the goal.  It just goes to show "two heads are better than one!"  USA plays next on Sunday at 2pm MST against Portugal.

It's awesome to imagine all those people from around the world, gathered in Natal, Brazil for "futbol" games.  Let's also not forget that we too are a part of something bigger, our membership in the community of Jesus Christ, a worldwide network of fellow believers, brothers and sisters to one another because of Him.  This should not be a secret but proclaimed as Good News - that we have one another as our family.

I am always aware on Fathers' and Mothers' Day that not everyone has been so fortunate to have parents as special as mine.  But this is yet one more reason why God has given us one another to love and serve.  Don't forget to love one another as the family God ordains you have.

As God's family, we must get together more, talk to each other as a network of connected faithful.  Here's what's happening this week:

Today:  Yoga at High Noon in Fellowship Hall - bring a towel and/or mat if you can

Wednesday 9:00AM  Exercise, Eat and Pray  Meet in the church kitchen behind the stage.  Exercise and fellowship for people who want to stay mobile!  It happens every M-W-F.

Wednesday 6:00PM  Movie Night in Fellowship Hall - "Chicken Run," a charming claymation movie about chickens dreaming of a life of freedom.  See the trailer here: Click here.  Bring all your friends and family.  It's free.  B.Y.O. Munchies

Friday:  Exercise Eat and Pray 9:00AM

Saturday:  Rotary Golf Tournament call the Tucumcari Golf Club for details 461-1849.

Sunday:  Sharon Huffman is our guest preacher!  Amy must be away from a meeting in Clovis, as part of her work for the Presbytery Administrative Commission.  Thank you to Sharon for stepping into the pulpit.

Monday:  Pastor takes a Sabbath.  9:00AM  Exercise, Eat and Pray.

FYI - I received word from Deborah Joyce, a woman we assisted with furniture and food just before Thanksgiving that she is doing quite well. She has now moved into a better home than before.  However, she is helping a young couple with a small baby try and find a bed and a couch.  If you know of a bed and a couch that this family could use, please call me 575-708-0860.

May this be a fantastic and blessed day for you!
In Christ our Lord,
Amy

Dear Friends in Christ:
We have had such a lot of rain lately, it seems appropriate that we would have a duckling visit church on Sunday.  A little duckling named Guinness McKenzie (he's black and tan...).  It was a little early for St. Francis Day, October 4th, but it was a joy to have this little tyke running around quacking with the rest of us.

We sang a hymn or two from our "new" blue hymnals, gifted to us from 1st Roswell, and admired the Pentecost banner adorning the wall below our stained glass window, gold and various shades of red, purple and yellow.  The glitter glue had only just dried that morning.

How wonderful it was also to see Anna Randals and Kenneth McKenzie visiting too!  If you haven't heard this yet, Anna indeed got the job teaching 2nd grade.  Thanks be to God!  Also, please remember Jack Dyer in your prayers.  Jack is definitely worsening.  If you want to call his house and pay your regards, you can at:  575-487-2835 or 403-2835.

Yesterday we are able to help a woman who is escaping to Farmington following a violent home situation.  Ronni Wright sent her to us.  She had had her teeth knocked out by this man and apologized that she is still learning how to speak clearly because of this.  It is the first opportunity to use the Mission grant from the Presbytery.  We gave her $40 for fuel, some food from our Traveler's Pantry and allowed her to select some clothing from our clothing racks in the Rummage Room  I prayed for her before she left.  She expressed her gratitude to God for our help.

There is so much to be said about Pentecost.  It is a day we remember the birth of the Church.  Yet, it is a day of opportunity for us to re-embrace our birth as the church.  Pentecost shouldn't be just one day, but a life spent exploring God's will for the Church!  We are living in an inventive age (See Doug Pagitt's "Church in the Inventive Age" series)

Well, it seems necessary that we somehow allow God's Spirit to reinvent all the time.  We are Reformed and always reforming, remember!  This week, for example is different from last week:

TODAY,Tuesday, at noon is yoga in Fellowship Hall  12 noon sharp!
TODAY Quay-Z quilters arrive at 1PM and cover the place with their projects :)
TOMORROW, Wednesday - Exercise, Eat and Pray  9:00AM; Amy will be in the office till about 1PM
TOMORROW, Wednesday - Session Meeting 5:30PM
THURSDAY - I might be in Albuquerque for a training all day long.
FRIDAY - Exercise Eat and Pray 9:00AM;  Amy will be in the office till about 1PM
SUNDAY - Trinity Sunday, Potluck Supper (AKA, Take a Friend to Lunch), Fathers' Day Too!
MONDAY - Pastor takes a Sabbath

Don't forget that next week Wednesday evenings are going to be summer fellowship/movie nights.  Another chance to invite a friend :)
Peace be with you today and every day.
Your Pastor, Amy
