The Lord be with you, Friends!
We had a lovely Trinity Sunday with Marge at the piano and so many of your familiar faces looking back at me.  You might have noticed that I am just regaining momentum after such a busy past 3 weeks!

Let's start with what matters:

Prayers
For a leap of faith: the new Cross Arrow Medical Group - that it find success here
For Eric Rivera- journey to healing after shoulder surgery - he's doing okay right now
Thanksgiving to have Marie Sims back in church!
Laro Sims' father in law after an accident
The people of Hawai'i
Those who grieve
Safety for all those travelers out there!

Saints, we have a few things coming up in the calendar:
Tomorrow, Wednesday, May 30 2-5PM:  Cross Arrow Medical Group Ribbon Cutting and Blessing; open to the community!
This Saturday, June 2nd 8-9AM at Dunn Park The Quay County Health Council (Fitness and Nutrition Committee) sponsors a free community event "Walk with a Shelter Dog," in cooperation with Paws and Claws (see image)  I guess you could also call it "Walk with a Pastor" since I'll be there too!

This Sunday, June 3rd - Communion Sunday  Kenna is Deacon of the Month for that!
Monday, June 4th at 5:30/6:00PM in Church Kitchen - Green Chile Gals gather for a fellowship meal and who knows what kind of fun might happen!
Sunday, June 9th at noon, Fellowship Hall - Presbyterian Women have their quarterly potluck luncheon and meeting.

Thank you!!  I thank God for your patience to let me be gone.  I have returned refreshed from seeing my wonderful family, my nephews who've grown so much in the past year.  The writing workshop I attended was much better than I anticipated.  I am also grateful to be able to be with Eric in Albuquerque last week.

I have attached the sermon, which was about the persistent activity of God's Holy Spirit in our lives, and those born of the Spirit get to be the visible examples of the good God has done for us.  (that's the hard-boiled version!)

Take time to be holy and it will show.
Much love,
Rev. Amy

The Lord be with you, Friends.
If I had the forethought to bring a computer on vacation, I would have sent you one of these "love letters" from Virginia.  God had other plans, I guess.

I look forward to June being a good time for us to recenter ourselves smack dab in the middle of the summer.  After this Sunday, Trinity Sunday, we will enter into that growing and evolving period of Ordinary Time.  The space between now and World Communion Sunday is called Ordinary Time because it numbers the days and weeks (ordinal->"counting").  To me, Ordinary Time is not to be wasted.  It's a gift from God for us to take a deep breath and step back a moment, and assess where He has been there for us and where He's taking us next.

Where is God taking US this week?
  • Our Exercise, Eat and Pray group is meeting this Wednesday at 9:00AM
  • Yoga is POSTPONED until next week
  • Tomorrow, May 23rd the students from K.U. Alternate Breaks spend the night in Fellowship Hall.  They take off pretty early in the morning for home.
  • Sunday, your pastor is "back in the saddle again" - the pulpit
  • I'm in Albuquerque as of this morning thru Saturday, for Eric's surgery and a couple extra days' recovery time.

Announcement!!
Cross Arrow Medical Group open house and ribbon cutting. It will be May 30 from 2-5 pm.  You are all invited!  Let's be there to support our sister in Christ, Linda Sims. The Clinic is located by the hospital, at 309 E Washington.  Also, please hold them in your prayers as they put on the final touches of their new clinic.

Prayers:
The new clinic opening
Eric's surgery
Travelers
Persons discerning their relationship to God
Dale
Kylie Collins
Marie Sims @ home
Our community's graduates and families

Sorry the prayer list is so short.  I am still adjusting to being back home in Tuc!

I am available by phone this week, should you have any needs or questions, please call me at 575-708-0860.  Wednesday is the day of the surgery.

I pray for God's power and grace to rest on you this week.  I look forward to being more "with" you this weekend.

Much love.

Happy May Day.  What happened to April??

We've been so terribly busy with our activities the month just flew by.

Before I forget, our Elders have their May Session Meeting tonight.  If anyone has considered joining our church, you may pop by for a brief conversation with us tonight at 5:30PM.  We'd love to have a little "diversion" from our monthly business.

Don't forget that we need your help with the Rummage Sale. We are getting more donations today and they will need inspection, cleaning and arranging.  The sale is this Friday and Saturday from 9AM-3PM.  Spread the word!

Let's get into our prayer requests right away:
  • Travelers - many from our church and around the community
  • The McClelland Family - they've been hit by tragedy quite a lot. I'm sad to share that Bob McClelland, Jr has passed away.  It happened sometime yesterday morning.  They are in shock right now.  Fortunately, Rob and Ashley live in the area and are able to hang with mom, Kathi, for mutual support.
  • Marie Sims - doing okay.  She misses getting out of the house. Please continue to give her company.  Will's cell number is 575-749-1531. If you could call him before coming over, that way you'll be able to sidestep the home health care staff, physical therapists and others.
  • Mickey and Karen Birch - Mickey has stopped doing chemo.  He fell in the home recently. Things have been really hard for them.

Sunday, May 20th is Pentecost Sunday and the Presbyterian Historical Society is using that day to celebrate the heritage of Fred Rogers.  Here's a link to some further info and a brief video: https://www.history.pcusa.org/heritage-sunday-2018

This week I will be tying up a lot of loose ends before I head out on vacation.  I will be gone May 6th (after church) through May 18th.  About half that time I will also be in a pastor's writing workshop in Austin, Texas.  I'll miss you and will try to learn as much as I can!

Friends, pray unceasingly, assured that you are connected to Jesus Christ no matter where you are.  See you at the Rummage Sale (if not sooner).
Much love,
Pastor Amy
