The Lord be with you all,
Friends, I hope that this Thanksgiving Week finds you well.

Please remember those who are in need of our prayer and care during the holidays.  Some who have recently received bad news.  Some who are lonely.  Some who need food, warmth or other help.  You never know what is behind the eyes of those we joyfully greet with holiday cheer.

Let us remember the prayers that were named this past Sunday:
Travelers - those who we love and those we do not know, may all be safe, for it is one of the biggest traveling times of the year!
Tom Anderson - who has recently received a bad diagnosis of cancer (sadly, it's back)
For the family and dear friends of Ron Wilmot.  Click here for a brief obituary from the Quay County Sun.
Mike Ellis
Ruth Johnson (leg pain)
Thanksgiving for Vicky's recovery (Lucille's daughter)
Jenna's knee

Ron Wilmot's Service:  Tomorrow at 1:00PM at the Fairbarn Exhibit Hall (where we have the booths during the county fair).  Marge, our Deacon Chair, is organizing the small desserts service for the reception.  Please contact her in order to contribute some treats.  We expect a lot of people!  Her number is 575-403-7876 or 575-576-2776 or [email protected].  Thank you in advance!

Our weather has been pretty sketchy this week thus far!  I hope that if you are going somewhere this week, please stay safe.  As for me and my household, we will be traveling out of town for several days, starting tomorrow after the funeral, to spend Thanksgiving with family up north.

This week:
Today:  Yoga is cancelled today, because I'm taking time off this week
Tomorrow, Wednesday, the Service for Ron Wilmot will be at 1:00PM at the Fair Exhibit Hall; please bring your little treats by the exhibit hall by 11:00AM or to the church by 10:30AM.
Thursday: Happy Thanksgiving!
Sunday:  Worship at 11:00 with Holy Communion.  It's the first Sunday in Advent.  We have a guest preacher on that day, Commissioned Pastor, Wayne Head of Clovis.

May God bless you and keep you this week.  Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.
Love,
Amy

Grace and peace be with you all,
Hope that my email to you finds you well this morning.  Be sure to stop by this Thursday evening to meet the new Main Street director, Connie Loveland, as well as view her spectacular photography.

Today, November 19th, makes me a little anxious. Can you believe this month is passing so quickly?  Fortunately, as a church we get to mark those days with our cycle of life - annual, monthly and weekly.  This past Sunday was our 3rd Sunday Fellowship Dinner, a reminder that our month is about halfway over.  In another week, we will begin the new church year, on December 1st with the first Sunday in Advent.

A special Hip Hip Hooray! for the Church as we baptized and received into our Fellowship Lavone Bond as a new member.  Thanks be to God for promises we make, which remind us of God's own covenant with us!

Sunday's Visitors:  We enjoyed the visits from a new couple in town, Joe (Ignacio) and Allison Sosa, who recently moved here from Washington State.  They have a long history of church attendance in their past experience, including Presbyterian.  They also have lots of close ties to the Lubbock area but are very pleased that they live in New Mexico.  Please pray for their discernment as they get situated in Tucumcari!  Maybe they'll return to visit again.

Thank you to Kenna for hosting of this past Sunday's dinner.  And thanks to all of us for the delicious foods. God is definitely good.

Yoga today is cancelled.  We won't have quite enough to make a group today.  Let's try next week at noon on Tuesday!
Wednesday and Friday - Exercise, Eat and Pray meets at 10AM.  Friday's meeting may depend on other scheduling, since there may be a funeral on that day.

Ron Wilmot:  As some of you know, our brother in Christ Ron Wilmot passed away yesterday.  Please check our calendar (or call/text 575-708-0860) to see when services will be. You can find our calendar at 1stpreschurchtuc.weebly.com.  If we have a meal on the day of his service, our Deacons will be in touch with you.  I will have an idea of what to expect by this evening.  To say Ron "was a good man and that he'll be missed" would be an understatement.

This past Sunday, I tried to challenge us to remember our membership as part of the Body of Christ.  And how important it is that we remember that this is our guide for choosing good over evil, for living a life we would want to have in our obituary.  For our baptism is the day we die and rise to new life, belonging to Jesus Christ our Savior.  For the story about Dr. Alfred Nobel, of whom I spoke on Sunday, here is the page:  Write Your Own Obituary

The Apostle Paul once said, “If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.” (Romans 14:8)  Thank God!

Friends, I hope that you have a blessed and joyful day.
Much Love,
Amy

PictureThis Friday, after you get off work!

The Lord be with You.

I pray that your Veterans' Day weekend was a good one, of peace and reverence.  And, that you stayed warm yesterday!

Sunday Plans: Friends, we have a fun and interesting week ahead.  A special surprise is in store for worship this weekend.  And, after this Sunday's worship, we also have Fellowship Dinner.  A special thank you to Kenna for agreeing to host this Sunday's meal.  Bring a dish and invite a friend!

GAME NIGHT We also have a fun Friday evening planned, as there will be another GAME NIGHT.  Drop by Fellowship Hall after work and we will circle up for fun.  Bring your favorite game, or just get ready to play one of the cool options we already have at the church.  This is not a meal.  However, you're invited to bring a sack of chips or something else to share.

Yoga at noon today:  Today at noon, a few of us will meet up for yoga in Fellowship Hall.  Bring a mat.
Exercise, Eat and Pray:  Tomorrow and Friday at 10:00AM
New Member Q&A Class:  For anyone who is interested in joining the church, I will be holding the next class this Sunday at 9:30AM. Text or call me to reserve a seat!  575-708-0860.  I can also visit you personally to offer the same class.

Prayers:
Anna Lee Schuster, continuing to recover
Jenna Morris - for her knee to heal
Ruth Johnson - ongoing health concerns
Lucille's daughter, Vicky, healing up after surgery
Glenda Coles - continuing to heal after surgery
Thanksgiving for a healthy baby, born to Jessica Mueller
Those contemplating joining a church family
Those looking for work
For Dr. Corey's clinic - for smoother times, and for Tom Anderson - upcoming tests
Travelers
For wisdom and peace in our nation

Call to all Musicians and Readers:  Dear Friends in Christ, I hope that you know we will be entering the season of Advent in just a couple of weeks.  It is hard to believe that this month is almost over.  I will be reaching out to a number of you to see if you can read or play music in the coming weeks during December.  I will also be sending out an announcement of Special Dates for our church Christmastime calendar!

Advent is a time of preparation, of decoration, but while decking the halls with holly, we also prepare the way of the Lord to our own hearts.  I suppose we are also "beautifying" our souls to receive his Good News of Salvation.  I find Advent to be a most wonderful and fascinating time when we can contemplate God's entry into this earthly plan, as one of us.  And as one of us, God leads us to the revelation that this earthly world is to be redeemed.

May we enter this week, remembering God's grace and promise to be with us always.  Have a joyful and blessed week.
Love,
Rev. Amy

The Lord be with You,
Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior.

We had a hearty turnout for Communion Sunday this past weekend.  When the trays were returned to the table in the front of the church, there were only 5 or 6 little cups of juice left!

It was a joy to also welcome home Sharon Huffman, Anna Lee and Elmer Schuster to worship.  Thanks be to God for hearing our prayers for healing.

We need to also lift in prayer:
New Baby, born healthy, to Jessica and Cameron Mueller. Thanks be to God!
Those who seek gainful employment
For Dennis Townsend's family and dear friends (the service is today)
Renewal of the Church
Glenda Coles, physical therapy, after surgery
Anna Lee Schuster, physical therapy, after surgery
Jenna Morris' knee
Sheila Martinez (Susie's cousin), getting better
Sonia (Betty Ragan's daughter), still recovering from stroke
For those seeking warmth, food in this change of season
With Thanksgiving and Concern, for veterans and their families, and for those who presently serve to protect our nation.
Those who are discerning the call to join God's Church

Today I am trying to see if we will have a "quorum" to have yoga class.  I'll be in touch with the Yoga folks and we will decide whether we are meeting at noon today.
Tonight:  Session Meets at 4:00PM in the library.
Tomorrow and Friday - Exercise, Eat and Pray at 10:00.  Gentle yet challenging exercise for all ages, followed by fun and coffee!
Sunday - Worship at 11:00AM.  Invite your neighbors!

New Member Class:  I am currently building a list of individuals who are interested in joining the church.  If you are one of those people, please let me know.  I plan on providing a one-hour New Member Class on Sunday, November 17th at 9:30AM.  That's Potluck Sunday, but with a little prep, you can swing it! Those who complete the class may be eligible to join by profession of faith as soon as December 8th.  I will also provide a second time for those who simply cannot come to the one on the 17th.

Project Idea! I am working on an "information card" that can be placed in the pews to teach people about our worship service and the elements of it.  If you have an interest in helping me put it together, please tell me. It can be informative to our frequent attendees, but also to help those who visit us.

Friends, there are always opportunities to serve God in the Church, and there are opportunities all around us.  You may never grow bored if you start looking around and asking questions.

I hope you feel free to do that with me.  May the Lord bless you and keep you till we meet again.
Love,
Rev. Amy
