Grace and Peace be with you all.

Hope this week is finding you well, as we have enjoyed some beautiful, soaking rain to freshen up God's earth!

I had hoped for a little bit more yesterday but it seems to have passed us by.  I guess we can't be too choosy.

We have several things going on this week, as we settle into the summer season.
TODAY
Yoga at high noon today in Fellowship Hall.  We will decide together if we're doing an hour or a 20 minute session.
WEDNESDAY
Exercise, Eat and Pray meets tomorrow at 9:00AM
Dutch Treat Dames meets at 12:00noon at the Cornerstone Deli for lunch.
FRIDAY
Exercise Class might be cancelled, so call me at 708-0860 to find out for sure.
Fun and Games Night 6:00PM in Fellowship Hall.  There will be Root Beer Floats!
SATURDAY
Men's Breakfast 8:00AM.  Please call David Goldston at 403-7910 to let him know you're coming!  This is for men of our community, for the guys in our church, so invite someone!
SUNDAY
Worship with Holy Communion

We enjoyed the worship/fellowship of three visitors:  Rose Apodaca for her second time, and visiting for the first time, David and Cindy Lathrom.  They moved here from the Wichita, KS area because he is now our new police chief.  If you can, please drop by a note of thanks at his office.

Please hold in prayer:
Sharon Huffman - pain
Tara Warner and family - moving to Kentucky
Angie Garcia - not doing well
Richard Vaughn - injured from a fall
Tom Anderson's brother - surgery
Family of John Kemack (sp?) - fatal tractor accident
Kyle Perez - burns to his face
Scotty Parker + Family - safety and success (the 7th grader who is riding his bike cross country to raise money for clean water www.watermission.org)
Safety for travelers

Scotty Parker learned as a child that 1.8 billion people in the world lack safe drinking water. As a young person of compassion, he decided to raise money and awareness of this fact by riding his bicycle across the state of South Carolina (his home).  This year, he is traveling the entire country and he has received a donation of $100,000 for The Water Mission.  You can visit their website above to learn about their work.  He uses his love for sports to further a cause that he cares about.

I hope you are inspired by Scotty.  I hope you make this a great week and are a blessing to someone.
Much love,
Rev. Amy

Grace and Peace, Friends, from First Presbyterian Church of Tucumcari!
I am sharing with you some thoughts on this Sunday's lectionary readings, followed by some questions for reflection.  Click here for that compelling and convicting commentary from the Presbyterian Outlook.

I hope that you all had a blessed Fathers' Day; I can say we did at the church, with a good turnout of worshipers and a pretty tasty potluck!

Thank you to everyone who could help out and clean up after dinner Sunday.

A few things of note...

PW Called Meeting this Saturday, June 24th @ 12 Noon:  This Saturday at noon, the Presbyterian Women are called to a special meeting at the church.  The purpose of this meeting is to talk about the future of the Rummage Sale and how we can make improvements.  The necessity of this conversation has been raised by several of you, as well as by the Elders of the Church. Bring a lunch item to share as we will also break bread together.
Wednesday June 28th Noon @ Cornerstone Deli:  Dutch Treat Dames get together for a lunchtime fellowship.
Fun and Games Night, Friday, June 30th:  Come out and let's have some fun with cards, board games and tasty foods.
Men's Fellowship Breakfast Saturday, July 1st 8:00AM:  Men of the Church are gathering for fellowship next Saturday for breakfast.  No strings attached.
Sunday, July 2nd:  Worship with Holy Communion, with Marge McKenzie as the Deacon of the Month.

We are ending June with a bang, apparently!

Prayers Needed:
Sharon - for alleviation of pain
For travelers
London and surrounding areas
Those stricken with fires
Angie Garcia - not doing well
Mack McCord - bad health
Irene Healey, healing from fall - Julie Sursa's mom

Hope that this week is a good one.  Hope to see you around town.
Much love,
Pastor Amy

The Lord be with you,
This past Sunday was Trinity Sunday.  It (sort of) marks the end of the season of high holy days, and the beginning of our summertime.  How are you planning your summer at First Presbyterian Church?

Here are a few ideas:
Friday, June 30th about 6:00PM is Game night.  Bring a game to share, or we can choose games from the church closet and have some fun!  If it's been a while since you've been at church, it's a great way to reconnect with your church family.  Bring a friend!  There will be snacks.
Saturday, July 1st at 8:00AM Men's Breakfast. This is an informal time for Christian men to gather and fellowship.  No agenda, no "Honey-Do Lists."  This miracle happens in the church Fellowship Hall.
Take a Yoga Class - we meet in Fellowship Hall on Tuesdays at noon.  Today we plan on doing an hour class.  Bring a mat and a strap (or belt).
Come to Exercise, Eat and Pray M-W-F at 9:00AM - a group that practices exercises designed for folks with mobility issues, followed by fellowship and prayer time.  Anyone is welcome to join in.
Organize the handbell choir - Make Mickey Page smile on you from heaven! We need a new person to help organize the Jubilee Ringers so they have some good stuff to practice for the holidays.
Shadow an Elder or the Pastor:  Do you wonder what goes on in our meetings or when the church is doing God's ministry?  Let me know at we can show you the ropes.
Make Cookies - yes it's hot out there, but just turn on a fan. I have a list going of people who can make cookies to sell at the County Fair, and also for 9/11, when we would like to make a special delivery to our local first responders.

This is the ideal time to think about renewing your commitment and exploring new horizons at our church.

Elders:  it's that time again for our monthly meeting.  Tonight we meet at 5:30PM.  If you cannot make it, please let me know asap, so we can ensure there's a quorum.

Prayer Requests:
Huffmans are on the move.  Please hold their grandchildren in your prayers as they travel to camps and summer classes.
Don Wellborn - having some serious health problems.
Angie Garcia - loss of appetite
Sharon Huffman - pain
Irene Healey (Julie Sursa's mom) - post-op rehab in Texas
Summer Travelers
Joe Russell Rivera (Eric's uncle)
Tom Dobson - dialysis
Scott Blumenthal (an email request to our church from Boonville, MO) - daughter with special needs and he needs to find a better job

I am convinced, friends, that this church has a lot going on and much ministry to do.  I look forward to our summer together.  May God bless you this week, and stay cool!
Love,
Pastor Amy

Grace and Peace, Friends!
Hope that your Pentecost weekend was full of the Spirit.  Our worship on Sunday was a joyful one - we welcomed home Betty Ragan, back from Farmington, who played the piano for us (Thanks be to God!) and it was a joy to see Jenna Morris take a seat up front to play the clarinet.

Just a reminder of how important music is to our time of worship :)

Men of the Church!  If you missed this past weekend's breakfast, then take heart.  We will do it again on Saturday, July 2nd at 8:00AM.  The idea is simply to come together.  No hidden agendas.  Just hang out and enjoy some homecooked food.  Spread the word too.  This could be a great way to include people from around our community.

Attention Elders:  We had a scheduling "mixup" which I think is my fault.  I am sorry for that.  The meeting that we had planned for this past Sunday with Rev. Land and Janell Kane is actually this Sunday, June 11.  We will proceed with meeting after church for about an hour with them.  This Biennial Visit is a little like going to the doctor for a "Wellness Exam" to see how things are going in our church and with your pastor.

Lois Hanson:  Dear friends, received word that Lois Hanson, a former member of the church has passed away.  She had moved to California to be with family and had had a series of mini-strokes from which she never could recover.  Please hold her daughter Barbara and the rest of the family in your prayers.

Say it with Cookies:  Do you enjoy baking?  There are two opportunities coming up when cookies (or other baked goods) will be needed.  1) Mid August to sell at the Quay County Fair and 2) September 11th, when we are delivering cookies to the local First Responders.  Let me know if you can help with either/both of these dates.

Friday, June 30th Fun and Games:  You all are invited to a Game Night.  It happens to be my birthday but the best gift is if we all got together and just had a fun and relaxing evening of fellowship.  Bring yourself and a friend.  Bring your favorite board game or cards; there will be refreshments.  We'll start about 6:00PM and see how long we last :)

Today:
Yoga today at noon sharp!  We have an hour of yoga scheduled today.  Bring a strap or belt if you have trouble reaching your toes.
Quay-Z Quilters at 1:00PM
Wednesday and Friday:  Exercise, Eat and Pray 9:00AM
Sunday after worship:  Elders, don't forget our meeting with Ted and Janell.

Please remember in prayer:
Barbara Bonneau and her family after the loss of her mother, Lois Hanson.
Dr. James Saltz's family
Travelers
Angie Garcia
Joe Russell Rivera

I hope you'll send me an email here if you have other prayer requests.

I hope that wherever you find yourself this week, you also find God with you.
Blessings,
Pastor Amy
