A Blessed Holy Week, and congratulations to all Tax Day Survivors!

I woke up today to see videos of the burning Notre Dame Cathedral.  What a loss of history and art it signifies.  Of course, in our technological age, you just have to google the word Notre Dame and you'll find plenty of candid video of the flames bringing down the central spire.  Cardinal Dolan, archbishop of the Diocese of New York, offered some words of insight, for he said it is a reminder of what our faith is about.  We are a resurrection people.  (click to watch Cardinal Dolan interview)

This is Holy Week.  We could always use more reminders of what the resurrection is about.  Yes, it has to do with everlasting life, healing and hope.  Yes, it also has to do with God's power to overcome all things, including Death.  And yes, it has to do with dying every day to sin, so that we continue to learn of the mercy and love of God.  And yes, it also has to do with the forgiveness of others.  But there always seems to be even more to that story, no matter how much we try to understand it.

But we should keep on trying to understand.
Tomorrow night is our last Lenten Bible Study at 6:00PM.  We are going to look at John 21 and if we have time read some of the end of Revelation.

Thursday night, 6:00PM is the Maundy Thursday service with hand washing and communion.  please come!

Sunday morning at 11:00AM is the Day of Resurrection!  If you have a bell, bring it to ring during church. (cow bell, bicycle bell, whatever you have!).  It's also Potluck Sunday so bring a dish and stay after for fellowship.

Other goings on:
On Friday at 3:00PM there is a Good Friday service at St. Michael's.
Today at noon is Yoga in Fellowship Hall.
After Sunday Potluck, we need everyone's help for about 30 minutes to take down tables and chairs, and help PW set up the big tables.

Prayers were lifted up on Sunday for -
Richard, preparing for surgery on May 3rd
Thanksgiving for Marie Sims being back
Marcia Blea (Lucille's sister) who had eye surgery yesterday
Dr. Corey - who needs more employee help at the vet clinic
Our nation, that we find more unity
For travelers this week

Hope to see you at our various events this week.  And may God bless you and keep you wherever you are today.
Hugs,
Rev. Amy

Dear Friends in Christ,
A blessed Tuesday morning to you all!

The Green Chile Gals got together last night for supper.  There were 8 of us!  Thanks to Kenna, who brought a craft project for us to do.  If you see any painted Easter rocks around town, they just might be one of ours!

This Sunday we lean into the special season of Holy Week, beginning with Palm Sunday.  Take note that Thursday, April 18th at 6:00PM will be our Maundy Thursday service.  And of course, Sunday, April 21st is Easter, and Potluck Sunday.  Sounds like fun!  Invite your friends who might not normally attend church.  And, bring a bell to ring!

Today there is a Session meeting in the Library.  We will meet at 5:30PM.  I will email an agenda shortly.

Tomorrow night at 6:00PM is our second-to-last Lenten Bible Study.  We will read John 20, and if there's time some of John 21.

Prayers for;
Michelle Flowers
Lynn Hudson and her daughter
Ruth Johnson
Marie Sims (now home from the hospital)
All who have been sick
Those who grieve

How is your fish? We are currently receiving the One Great Hour of Sharing offering.  Please consider giving to this offering, which goes toward Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Self-Development of People and the Presbyterian Hunger Program.  The fish banks are accumulating in a basket in the Sanctuary, as we speak!  We will continue to collect this offering through Easter Sunday.

Yoga today!  Today we meet at noon-sharp for yoga!  I have a meeting right after that, so I will have to leave as soon as we're done.

Now, go out there and make this a great day.  Be a blessing to others.
Much love,
Rev. Amy

Grace and Peace, All!
I hope you survived April Fools' Day without any embarrassment!  If you're like me, you might feel like this world is so upside down a little foolishness is hard to appreciate.  But perhaps a little mirth and silliness is good for the soul.  I have plenty of experiences (and so do many of you) when we find ourselves laughing together.  In Christ we can only take things so seriously, because we know at the end of each day God is ultimately our Lord and in charge of our salvation.  Thanks be to God!

I am attaching this past Sunday's message as well as the previous one.  As you know, I was out of town for a few days' vacation.  That's why you didn't get a weekly email last week.

I'm home in Tucumcari and refreshed!  Here's what's going on in our church this week and next:
Today, Tuesday:  Yoga at noon in Fellowship Hall
Tomorrow evening at 6:00PM:  Bible Study of Luke 24 (bring a sandwich if you want!)
This Sunday is Holy Communion Sunday.

Next week:
Monday, April 8th at 6:00PM in Fellowship Hall - Green Chile Gals Fellowship
Tuesday, April 9th at noon in Fellowship Hall - Yoga!
Tuesday, April 9th at 5:30PM Session Meeting in Library
Wednesday, April 10th at 6:00PM Bible Study of John 20

Please take note that Holy Week is coming!
April 14th  Palm Sunday
April 18th 6:00PM  Maundy Thursday with communion by intinction
April 21st Easter Sunday

I'm calling on all who enjoy reading, welcoming visitors and playing/singing music during these special days.  If you enjoy these forms of service to God, please let me know and I'll give you a role.

This Sunday is Communion Sunday.  Dr. Jean is our Communion Deacon.

Do you have questions about being a member of the church?  Here's a short program about our denomination's perspectives on grace, sin, and our roles as disciples.  http://www.theocademy.com/lessons-for-new-members  This can also be found on YouTube.  If you are contemplating becoming an Elder or Deacon one day, you might find your questions answered here:  http://www.theocademy.com/lessons-for-ruling-elders-and-deacons  Of course, you can always ask me yourself!

I hope you go out and make this a great day!  Let the world know God loves them.
Blessings and Peace.
Rev. Amy
