Friends,
The Lord is with you.

We have seen a lot the past few weeks, as a nation and as a family of faith. These are volatile times, both internationally and here at home so very many ways.  But as believers, we know that there is a lot more than what we see in the news.  What we confess from the heart is, no matter what side of the aisle you sit, God is Good.  God is Love.  If anyone should be living by these truths, we believers should be.

Here at home, we have poured out our hearts, sharing our gifts with those in need.  I thank you for your gifts over these past three weeks, as the Presbyterian Women have challenged you, the Church, to share with the people hit with catastrophe from forest fires and hurricane-related weather.  I am happy to report to you that on Sunday, you gave approximately $895!  This brings us to a total of around $1376.  The Presbyterian Women will match that amount and remit a check to the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.  For news on what PDA is doing in those areas of our country, you can visit:   http://pda.pcusa.org/situations/national/

In other news,
The Manse Gets New Windows:  Yesterday the Session Voted to accept a quote from Jackson Glass to install 11 new windows at the manse, in addition to several other repairs which have needed to be done (repair to bathroom window sill and termite-damaged walls and more).
The Church Roof Supplies are accumulating:  I don't have a date as to when Mr. Sanders will start the work, but we are seeing the shingles, a storage pod and equipment mobilizing across the street from our church.  Once the work begins, it should be about 3 weeks before we have a new roof (weather permitting).
Christmas Cantata Practices have begun!  We have only had one practice so far.  We raised our right hand and swore to Harold Sloan that we'd practice the "Go Tell It On the Mountain" piece first.  Harold is ordering more music; for those who are interested, please tell me immediately!
Rummage Sale Preparations are Underway:  We have gotten a lot done this past week, preparing for the Sale. Based on comments I've heard, the PW seems a lot more unified in purpose and organization than in the past couple years.  Things are moving along beautifully in Fellowship Hall.  Please don't forget that we are still accepting donations for the sale, and we need your help to make it go great!   For questions, you can call me, at 708-0860.
Halloween Party!  Yes, let's accept the fact that Fall is officially here.  There shall be a Halloween Party at our church on Saturday, October 28th.  Fun will start around 5:30/6:00PM.  Come in a costume and please bring a snack to share!

History Buffs - From now until the end of October, during our worship, the "Time out for Teaching" will be a history lesson.  This Sunday, the lesson will be about why we worship the way we do.  For more information on this, you can visit:  http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2006/mayweb-only/121-52.0.html

October 1st World Communion Sunday - In less than one week we will celebrate the sacrament of holy communion.  Deacon Richard Randals is in charge.  Also, let's remember this is a special day as it is World Communion Sunday.  You are invited to bring special cloths and textiles from other countries to deck out the sanctuary in celebration of that special day.

Golfers - the Rotary Club is holding a Four-Person Scramble golf tournament this Saturday, September 30th, to raise funds for our college scholarships which go to our area high school seniors.  Tee time is 10:00AM, lunch provided around noon and the game resumes after lunch.  To sign up to play, you can call Rex or Charlie at the golf course at 461-1849.

Disc Golf - Did you know that Tucumcari has a Disc Golf Course now?  The first tournament is on October 14-15 and do we have a fabulous, challenging disc golf course!  It is a new thing in town that our city and residents have been working on. If you want more information, please call me for more details at 708-0860.

Please hold in prayer:
Patti Dobson - had a small stroke and was hospitalized.  She is doing better and has sent us her "Not My Monkey" sermon.  If you wish for a copy, please let me know.
Tom Dobson - continues okay.  he hopes to attend this week's Presbytery meeting
Westminster Presbyterian Church of Clovis - seeking separate from our denomination; please pray for this separation process
For the Fired Up! and Wheels on Fire race - that there is safety and success for all participating and our community
For those who grieve their loved ones
Ryan's grandparents
Those suffering from forest fires, the flooding and tornado damage
World peace
The Haynes family (of Logan) in their grief

This week looks like a rainy one.  I hope that all of you are safe and can enjoy this rich blessing of moisture.

In Christ,
Pastor Amy
