Dear Friends in Christ,
Greeting to you on this beautiful sunny Monday morning.
We had about 15 people in church yesterday. Lots of us are going many different directions right now, as we shift gears from summer to fall. But it sure doesn't feel like fall yet!
We had several Prayer Requests yesterday:
Jerrene Bradley-McCord and family after the death of her dad
Family of Rex Gray
For our President, after the passing of his brother
Travelers
The people of Iowa, after destruction by derecho wind (no power, no air conditioning)
Susie Martinez - foot injury, getting an MRI
Susie's Aunt Nestorita - needing knee replacement surgery
Tom Anderson - continuing chemo
Kids going to college
The City of Logan - experiencing an increase in COVID cases
Healthcare workers
Did you know? Today is National Non Profit Day, Black Cat Appreciation Day, Elvis Day... Yesterday was National Rum Day (glad I missed that one!). It seems like there is a special day for everything now. I enjoy looking those things up sometimes. You can go to https://nationaldaycalendar.com/what-is-today/ to see what I'm talking about. (I'm fond of "Talk Like a Pirate Day") It's amusing and surprising how much importance is placed on certain things. However, what if we dedicated one day a week to prayer and helping our neighbors?
Dutch Treat Lunch this Friday: Friends, I am thinking of lunch on Friday at Del's Restaurant. Since we cannot gather in the church, how about anyone who wants to join me, meet me at Dels at 11:45 and we can have the fried catfish special? A portion of sales go to Paws and Claws. This is an invitation to everyone, not just the "Dutch Treat Dames." I'll be looking for you!
Friends, it was a joy to see you yesterday. I have plans to visit a few of you this week. Make it a great day!
Much love,
Rev. Amy
