Grace and Peace be with you, Friends!
I hope this Monday morning is off to a good start. Above is the painting I talked about in the previous week's sermon, called "Before the Fire."
Deacons, please keep in mind we have a meeting today at noon. There will be birthday cards to sign and follow up on our business since the last meeting.
We had 22 people in worship yesterday! That means we were significantly low in bulletins. This week, we will be sure to have more than 16. It is a good thing that we need more bulletins. It means we are seeing a little more than usual in church! I promise we will have plenty to go around this Sunday.
Calling all Elders of the church! The Presbytery of Sierra Blanca has announced they are trying to get together a class for those who are interested in becoming lay pastors. Lay pastors fill in for the pastor when she/he is gone, are authorized to preach, celebrate the sacraments of baptism and communion, and other forms of ministry that could benefit your church. If you're interested, please tell me and I will ask the session for their endorsement.

Yesterday we had a baptism! Lucille Andrada has said Yes to God and now has been baptized. Just a word on baptism... Sometimes people who have been baptized before request to be baptized again. We may choose to baptize you for a 2nd time, which can be seen more of a recognition of your re-commitment to Jesus, usually if there has been some big change in your life. However, let's remember that the Holy Spirit is far greater and more powerful than we are. We are not in the business of re-baptizing people, for one is sufficient. For a detailed and fascinating history of baptism and rebaptism, you are welcome to take a look at this article by clicking HERE.

Did You Know? Five-Mile Park got a face lift on Saturday. If you can access this via Facebook, Bobby Hockaday (Ryan's cousin) has made a short video of what our local Rotarians did there on Saturday.
Friends, I have a little confession to make... My brain has been a bit fried lately. I thought Sunday last week was Pentecost, but it turned out that YESTERDAY was Pentecost. So, you had two very different Pentecost sermons in 2 weeks. Maybe we needed that? Thanks for bearing with me lately.
I hope that you will see this week God's Spirit at work! If not, let me know and we can look for Her together.
Sending you Non-Socially-Distanced Hugs...
