Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Grace and peace be with you!
On this chilly week of Thanksgiving, I give thanks for all of you and the many gifts God has bestowed upon us.
We enjoyed an intimate service of worship yesterday. We had 9 in church. Some of you have stayed away in order to protect your health and the health of others. Some of you stayed away just because it was so chilly! We were small but mighty.
Our gathered group of worshipers can remind us of what church is really about. We meet, greet one another in Jesus Christ, and then focus our attention on Him. Our songs are not for entertainment. They are for Him.
Jean reported to me yesterday that it is possible they will have a little extra room for Tom's funeral today at 10. They have limited the number of participants to 40.
Yesterday we celebrated Christ the King/Reign of Christ Sunday. I have attached the sermon.
Please remember these people in your prayers:
Anna Morris stage 4 cancer, on hospice (very dear friend of Emily Priddy)
Emily Priddy - has been sick, hopefully will get better soon
Susie Martinez - several health problems, preparing to move to a new place
Teresa Gallegos' son and daughter (Phil Gallegos and Kathy Martinez) each recovering from COVID
Rev. John Guthrie (pastor of First Pres Roswell) and his wife - both have COVID
Jonathan and Tess (relatives of Lucille), recovering from COVID
Holiday Travelers - for their personal safety, to not spread COVID
Ryan Pottenger - preparing to leave for Hawaii to be with family
Yvette McFarland - traveling this week
Thanksgiving for all healthcare workers, scientists and first responders
Jean Corey and the rest of the family as they ready themselves for Tom's funeral
Worship Continues: Friends, the Governor has continued to allow churches to meet for worship, but all other (non-worship) activities are currently banned from churches at this time. So, until further notice, I will continue to offer services in our sanctuary. I just hope and pray that we get to do so throughout the Christmas season.
Advent is on the Way! This Sunday, 11/29, will be the first Sunday of Advent. This means, more music and more readers. I will be tapping someone's shoulder to light the first advent candle and lead us in a prayer, from now until Christmas Eve. I am also considering a second Christmastide worship service, in order to reach those who may not be able to come at night. If you would like to be a part of this, and/or participate in our services with music or reading, please let me know asap! Thank you in advance!
This Week:
No EEP nor Yoga this week
Thursday: Thanksgiving!
Sunday: worship at 11:00AM
I hope that all of you have a blessed and peaceful, healthy and safe Thanksgiving.
Many hugs,
Rev. Amy
