This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday. It is traditionally celebrated as the birth of the church. What a wonderful way to celebrate this by returning to church after a long period of isolation!
If you feel well, healthy and have not traveled out of town in the last 2 weeks, please come to church and remember to... WEAR RED!
Red is the color of Pentecost, remembering the tongues of flame resting on each apostle as they each spoke a language not their own. It was by the Holy Spirit's power that they spoke of the manifold works of God, in languages that could be understood by the out-of-towners who were there to visit for the festival. What a wonderful example of God's power to break down the boundaries of language and culture. What an extraordinary way for God to demonstrate that the message of grace is truly for every person, of every persuasion.
So, if you can come to church, come in the color of fire, remembering God's own passion to break down the walls between us. Feel free to share this message. God be with you till we meet on Sunday.
Much love,
Rev. Amy
