Grace and peace be with you, Friends!
I hope that you are having a good week so far.  Although we had several people missing from church due to illness or traveling, we were still a joyful bunch in worship.  Maybe it was Kevin Mueller's special music.  Maybe it was the return of Ronni Wright and Mr. Tom Morris.  Or maybe it was just because pizza figured prominently in the sermon - that did elicit an "Amen!" from you.    Of course, it just seemed SO RIGHT in a message concerning the hospitality of Jesus in the feeding of the 5,000 (John 6:1-14).

I have been lax in reminding you of recent and upcoming birthdays:

• Robert Hoefer has he travels in the country of Tunisia with his fiancee, Mona, to meet her family.  They plan to be married in October in Santa Fe.
  
• Richard Hart as he deals with much leg pain, and some upcoming procedures which hopefully will help him with blood pressure.
  
• Kenna McKenzie and her continuing back pain.
  
• Sharon Huffman as she pursues physical therapy in Amarillo and is making great strides!  (literally and figuratively)
  
• Reagan Kenyon and her parents while she gets cancer treatment
  
• Lucille Andrada post-radiation treatment...waiting for results
  
• Elana Levy, suffering from an unknown, debilitating illness.  Pray for her as she seeks help in Texas at Scott & White.  She is Associate Pastor at First Pres Roswell, and is married to Rev. Lucus Keppel, pastor of Corona United and Ancho Community Pres Churches. 

So many prayers and struggles.  We are fortunate to have God on whom we can call for help.  And we are so fortunate to have one another.  

For this reason I want to remind you of an important aspect of the Presbyterian church.  Not just ours, but the Presbyterian Church nationwide. We are a "Connectional Church," which means we put a high value on what it means to be with and for one another.  It's because we also believe that God is with and for us in Christ Jesus.  This connection was made apparent last Sunday, when we offered our sanctuary to St. Stephen Presbyterian Church's mission team from Fort Worth, Texas, as they passed through Tucumcari on their way home.  It was a joyful moment in worship to share what they saw and learned serving Navajo churches near the Four Corners as I also taught them a little bit about Tucumcari!  

We will be examining in a four-part series the marks of the Presbyterian church this Sunday at 9:30AM in Fellowship Hall.  We are following a video series called, "Theoacademy."  If you missed last week, well come this week!  This week it's called "Update your Faith System."
