Friends, I hope this 2nd week of Advent finds you well.
We had a lovely service of worship on Sunday, with 29 people attending! Hope that this weekend will be the same, as we have a potluck dinner after church, so bring out your friends, and a dish you can share with the rest.
It's a busy weekend ahead, but it will be fun.
- Friday night is the Christmas Cantata and it promises to be a beautiful performance. It starts at 7:00PM but you need to get there at least 20 minutes early to find a seat.
- Saturday evening around 6:00PM is our church's White Elephant Gift Exchange (party and caroling!). Make sure you come with a fun, not too expensive, wrapped present to exchange. Also, bring your cameras and charge up your cell phones for there will be a special surprise. It's going to make you want to take some photos!
Today the yoga bunch will get together at noon for a good 50 minute yoga routine. Bring a mat if you can, and possibly a towel, belt or strap.
Tomorrow, Exercise, Eat and Pray will meet at the church at 9:00AM.
Prayers:
Vera Cordova - Teresa, Raymond and Betty's aunt, recovering from a stroke
Paige Morales (THS basketball player) injured her knee
Yvette McFarland - recovering at home from surgery
Eric Rivera - injured shoulder - looking at surgery
Thanksgiving and continued prayers for Wayne and Sharon preparing for their new home
The people of California stricken with fires
Those injured and terrorized in NYC from the explosion
In spite of the sadness we see around the world, this Sunday we will light the candle of joy. What brings you joy? I hope that this season is one of joy for you. It is also the Sunday when we remember Mary's joy when she discovers that she is with child, miraculously, and she sings, "My soul magnifies the Lord..." We will be exploring these things on Sunday.
I hope to see you there!
Much love,
Pastor Amy
