Greetings in Christ, Friends!
This week's blue skies make it seem as though it never rained. But, as I took an evening drive around the countryside, I noticed how beautiful the land is, popping with late-season wildflowers and various shades of green blanketing God's earth. Last night's sunset reflecting on the eastern clouds looked a little like cotton candy, didn't it?
In other words, it's very good to be back in Tucumcari this week. Thank you for your trust and understanding my sudden departure to Texas following the Fair. Anyone who wishes to ask me more about that is invited to call me at 575-708-0860. And, No, I'm not looking for a new job. Please rest assured of this.
For Labor Day weekend, Marge and I will be both be out of town. Patti Dobson is traveling from Clovis to fill the pulpit.

Worship and Holy Communion this Sunday, September 2nd with presiding Commissioned Ruling Elder Patti Dobson
This past Sunday's sermon was a fairly personal one for me, and I didn't know for sure how people felt hearing about it. It was from Ephesians 6, where we are charged to put on the "whole armor of God" and that armor was meant to cover the most vulnerable parts of a warrior. The thing is, not all of us own a full set of armor, and sometimes we don't even recognize how deeply wounded we have become by life's slings and arrows. The good news is we are never alone with our wounds. We have God and we have each other to cover us.

Rummage Sale: Marge McKenzie has announced that we are now taking Rummage donations. She is setting out signs for where things will go. Marge has volunteered to take charge of the Fall Rummage Sale. Please remember that the sale will be Fri/Sat of October 5-6. We will need many hands to help!
Christmas Cantata Practice: I have not heard from Harold Sloane about the Christmas Cantata this year. If someone wishes to sing in it, practices will begin soon, I'm sure. For more information, please give me a call. I will be calling him this afternoon to find out some details.
