Grace and peace be with you, Friends!
Hope your Tuesday is off to a fresh start!
We had a wonderful Sunday of worship and potluck dinner after church. Our worship was full, happy from all the rain, and we prayed for those who did not yet get any rain (which is amazing to me, since there has been so much in town).
Let us remember in prayer:
Students, teachers and parents as they kick off the school year
Family of Donna Bugg
Family members of Linda Lovett, who were injured in a jet ski accident
Communities stricken with violence and unrest
Communities hit with fires, loss of life and property
Elmer Schuster, continuing to recover from surgery
Ruth Johnson, preparing for cataract surgery this week and next week
Thank you so much for those who were able to help make happen our booth display at the fair this year! And a big congratulations to those of you who won ribbons upon ribbons for your entries. Our church is very creative and crafty!
I am working from out of town this week. I will be back in town on Thursday evening. I will be available by phone and email during this week, if you need to reach me.
Compared to last week, this week's schedule at our church will be fairly light. Remember that next Wednesday, August 29, the Dutch Treat Dames will be meeting at the Cornerstone for lunch at noon!
This past Sunday, the message was about Jesus as bread from heaven, and how sometimes we don't think about the sweet, substantial and comforting joy this means to us. Sometimes we take this for granted. I heard something from the Rev. Dr. Anna Carter Florence who said, "The church will not survive today if we do not receive each other as bread." I am still thinking about the depth of that statement, but I believe I agree!
Hope that your week is filling and joyful. May you receive much rain and may God bless you in every other way as well.
Love,
Rev. Amy
