I hope you had fun at the County Fair. We sure did. The church had a booth. Kenna brought her harps and invited people to play. It was a good thing too, since there was no other live music this year. We also sold cookies to go towards our different missions, under the "Hunger Fund." For $1 a bag, we did pretty well: $76. Not bad, since we baked all the cookies ourselves!
We are launching right into the school year now, so please say a little prayer for kids, teachers, parents, grandparents.
Also hold in your prayers: Lou Sims, who is still going through the ups and downs in recovery from heart bypass surgery (he's staying with daughter Virginia at 983 Archibeque in Rio Rancho) , Mary Rivera, who is presently in Christus St. Vincent (Rm 3121) in Santa Fe getting hip surgery. Let's also remember Margie Garcia, who has surgery this Friday in follow up to her months of cancer treatment.
Prayer is one of the simplest ways we can remain connected to one another. Just the other day a friend of mine posted on Facebook her need for "prayers and positive thoughts." Her mom has a brain tumor. What surprised me is that my friend sought prayer, because she had always proclaimed herself an ATHEIST. I guess even atheists might discover the need for prayer in hard times...
We have a lot going on as usual at First Pres:
Today is Yoga from noon - 1PM, then the Quilters take over Fellowship Hall!
Tomorrow, Wednesday 9-10:30AM Exercise Eat and Pray. then at 6:00PM we're watching "Welcome to Paradise" starring Brian Dennehy and Crystal Bernard.
Friday again is Exercise, Eat and Pray at 9:00AM.
Sunday at 11:00AM we will worship the Lord. And we are gathering for a very special public service of worship. Since we like Christmas music, it is Christmas in August, with special offerings from our talented cadre of musicians. So please bring a friend.
Have a blessed week, folks. May the Lord be with you!
