Greetings in Christ!

The County Fair is here!!
Today is the kick off day for our church's booth committee at the Quay County Fair.  The fair opens tomorrow, but we need your help setting up the booth tonight from 5-7 pm.  We are short on help this time, as it looks like just two of us.  If you would please help, we would appreciate it.  We meet at 4:30 today at the church, or if you cannot make it till 5, then meet us at the indoor exhibition area of the fair grounds (near the convention center).

We are not selling cookies this year, unless you have a strong urge to bake some.

Last year we won a ribbon for our display, so with your help, maybe we can do it again!  Thanks in advance. Questions? Call Amy at 575-708-0860.

Remember our students, parents and teachers...
School starts a week earlier in Tucumcari this year.  Please hold everyone in prayer.

Don't forget next week!
Even though this week is busy with the County Fair, next week we have a few things going on:
Session Meeting is Tuesday, 5:30PM on Aug. 23rd
Also Tuesday at 7:00PM is "Quay County on the Move" Back To School Party (see flyer) at the Fitness Center Complex
Wednesday Aug 24th Dutch Treat Dames meet at the Cornerstone Deli at noon

Prayers needed:
James Rivera, in the hospital in Albuquerque
Travelers
Family of baby Antonio Gallegos and our local youth who have been arrested
Our families in grief
Local schools
Our nation

Today yoga meets at noon, followed by the quilters this afternoon, and all who can help us gather the fair display up to take to the fair grounds.  The rest of this week will be hit or miss because I will be in and out of the fair.  So, if you need me, please call or text me.

The Sunday sermon is attached.  It was meant to encourage us to let go of our burdens so we can perform the tasks God has appointed for us.  Hope that got across to those who were present!  It was inspired by the reading of the day from Hebrews, as well as what Paul says in his letter to the Galatians, "For freedom we are freed..." (Gal 5:1)

Hope to see you all this Sunday.  It is a Carried in Dish (Potluck) Sunday.  In about 2 weeks' time, Sunday School will resume, and we shall be taking on some new topics, examining the Scriptures cited in the new Confession of Belhar.

As always, remember the life of freedom in Christ God has called you to live, not to ourselves but to him.  Make this a great day!
Love,
Amy
