Brothers and Sisters, it looks like it's going to be another hot day in Tucumcari! This morning, the Weather Underground (my usual go-to weather site) projects something like 107 degrees. It is going to be a rough one for people who work outside, for the elderly, for the homeless in our community and for our pets. Please take care of one another and don't hesitate to offer a cup of water to someone.
For a little fun, I came across this video of animals who were recently adopted. https://youtu.be/bnhzVcm2zfA You can see the happiness (or is it relief?). Is this not what God did for us in Christ Jesus? These photos remind me of the joy that I should seek in my own walk with God. What do you think?
Yesterday, our Elders had a very productive Session meeting in Fellowship Hall. It is possible that, with the uptick in COVID cases in our county, and with questions we have about our finances, it is possible that we may close the Fellowship Hall again, to all activities, including dinners and exercise classes, as we did before. We will make a more formal announcement about this soon.
In the meantime:
Exercise, Eat and Pray meets today at 10:00AM
Yoga MIGHT meet tomorrow, depending on what the Session determines.
Sunday: Worship at 11:00AM! Potluck is likely to be cancelled for this Sunday because of COVID.
Last week I omitted sending you the Sunday Sermon, so today I am attaching last week's and yesterday's. Additionally, I came across an article from the New York Times, published as the pandemic began to take hold of our country. It asks questions about "what is church?" and "what is community?" when churches are unable to meet and fellowship. It's a good article to make us think. I have posted it on our Facebook page, as this doesn't allow me to upload it here.

Friends, as the virus increases in this part of God's creation, I encourage anyone who has been traveling, or been around travelers to consider getting tested. We are lucky to live in a small community where the lines are short and exposure to illness is less common. The stories we hear on the news of persons waiting for hours are frightening, but we don't have that worry that in Tucumcari so much. You can call the PMS office at 461-2610 for a free COVID test. They are at 310 S 2nd Street.

Friends, stay tuned to our next steps regarding another lockdown. Thanks to every one of you, having supported the church and each other. God will see us through this crisis.
Much love,
Rev. Amy
