Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus -
Hope that this week is off to a blessed start for each and every one of you.
We had a very good Sunday worship with Holy Communion and several of you helping lead the worship. Did you consider how very important it is to have such a presence in front of the congregation? Our church leaders are seen serving in worship, and it shows dedication, faith and hope.
I've attached the sermon from this past Sunday. Please keep in mind the story at the end was not the one that I talked about; I used a different story, somewhat spontaneously, instead. The story I spoke of was our Christmas Eve when the organ died while we were singing "Silent Night" and how we kept on singing a capella. The beauty of the moment shone through in spite of the evident frailty of our organ. God does this with us, sometimes without our even realizing it.
So, we press on, in spite of the fact that nothing is perfect, so God can shine!
Here are a few things happening in the Life of the Church:
Today - Yoga is back!! Noon-sharp!
Tonight - 5:30PM Session Meeting
Tomorrow - 9:00AM Exercise, Eat and Pray; C'mon down!
This Saturday, June 9th - Noon - Presbyterian Women Quarterly Meeting Lunch Meeting - potluck style
Sunday - 11:00AM Worship the Lord! 2nd Sunday in June.
Please take note that all women - even non-members - of the church are invited to the Saturday meeting; we need all of your participation!
How is your garden this year? Special thanks to Kenna - and I think Marge maybe too(?) for the new plants growing in the pots at the church. There were already a couple ripe cherry tomatoes out there!
Wednesday showed a great turnout for the ribbon cutting of Cross Arrow Medical Grou! I think they have now begun seeing patients. Kudos to Linda Sims-Randals and Kari Allen for opening this up and connecting our community to medical specialists whom we didn't previously have! Please pray for their successful service!
Also please pray for:
- Jasmine (grocery checker, and daughter of one of our church housekeepers) who is having unexplained weight loss
- Eric, healing from surgery
- Marie - who's improving vastly but could use your fellowship and hugs
- The people on the Big Island of Hawaii; the people in Guatemala also now struck by volcano Fuego
- Teresa Gallegos-Brake - waiting for laser eye surgery
- Our new visitor Glenda requests prayers for each of her sisters, Betty and Dolores
- Julie Barrett (Center Street UMC Rev. John Barrett's wife) - broke her wrist
- Travelers
- Kids out of school for the summer and their parents
I hope that this day brings you refreshing reminders of God's love for you.
In Christ's Service,
Rev. Amy
