This past Sunday was Trinity Sunday. It (sort of) marks the end of the season of high holy days, and the beginning of our summertime. How are you planning your summer at First Presbyterian Church?
Here are a few ideas:
Friday, June 30th about 6:00PM is Game night. Bring a game to share, or we can choose games from the church closet and have some fun! If it's been a while since you've been at church, it's a great way to reconnect with your church family. Bring a friend! There will be snacks.
Saturday, July 1st at 8:00AM Men's Breakfast. This is an informal time for Christian men to gather and fellowship. No agenda, no "Honey-Do Lists." This miracle happens in the church Fellowship Hall.
Take a Yoga Class - we meet in Fellowship Hall on Tuesdays at noon. Today we plan on doing an hour class. Bring a mat and a strap (or belt).
Come to Exercise, Eat and Pray M-W-F at 9:00AM - a group that practices exercises designed for folks with mobility issues, followed by fellowship and prayer time. Anyone is welcome to join in.
Organize the handbell choir - Make Mickey Page smile on you from heaven! We need a new person to help organize the Jubilee Ringers so they have some good stuff to practice for the holidays.
Shadow an Elder or the Pastor: Do you wonder what goes on in our meetings or when the church is doing God's ministry? Let me know at we can show you the ropes.
Make Cookies - yes it's hot out there, but just turn on a fan. I have a list going of people who can make cookies to sell at the County Fair, and also for 9/11, when we would like to make a special delivery to our local first responders.
This is the ideal time to think about renewing your commitment and exploring new horizons at our church.
Elders: it's that time again for our monthly meeting. Tonight we meet at 5:30PM. If you cannot make it, please let me know asap, so we can ensure there's a quorum.
Prayer Requests:
Huffmans are on the move. Please hold their grandchildren in your prayers as they travel to camps and summer classes.
Don Wellborn - having some serious health problems.
Angie Garcia - loss of appetite
Sharon Huffman - pain
Irene Healey (Julie Sursa's mom) - post-op rehab in Texas
Summer Travelers
Joe Russell Rivera (Eric's uncle)
Tom Dobson - dialysis
Scott Blumenthal (an email request to our church from Boonville, MO) - daughter with special needs and he needs to find a better job
I am convinced, friends, that this church has a lot going on and much ministry to do. I look forward to our summer together. May God bless you this week, and stay cool!
Love,
Pastor Amy
