Happy May to our Friends in Christ!
What a beautiful day we had yesterday. It's hard to remember the last time I saw puddles and damp soil. It truly felt like Spring.
And in spite of the exciting snowfall we had on Saturday/Sunday morning, I was overjoyed to see how many of you decided to come to church. When we emerged, it was as if all we had had was a nice rain.
Rummage Sale Update: We are in the homestretch of our Rummage Sale Preparations this week. I have an appointment at 1:00PM with Sue Morgan, who will check out our items and advise us on pricing and display. Keep in mind that we need your help packing things up between Saturday and Monday so we can cart off most of it to the Ministry of HOPE on Tuesday.
PW Spring Gathering: There will be a Presbytery-wide gathering at our church on Saturday, May 13th. Women of the church are invited. Please let me know if you are interested and I will register you. Attached is a form for registration, if you want to fill it out and give it to me. On the hosting side, AnnaLee Schuster will call you if we need your help to provide food. If you want to participate in the worship service (communion, readers, etc.), please let me know! 575-708-0860
A few prayers were lifted up this Sunday:
Travelers
Lucille - thanksgiving for good news from her doctor; tumor is smaller
Continue praying for Matt and Kay, both healing from injuries
Prayers for those who are grieving in our community
Prayers for those hit by tornadoes in Texas
Continue praying for Ashley McClelland (Dana)
Tom Anderson (neuropathy pain continues)
Rock Chalk, Jayhawk KU! (I know their cheer because I am the child Jayhawks.) In a couple of weeks (2 to be exact), we will have more students from Univ of Kansas sleep in our church. They will be heading to two different service projects in Arizona and in California. They will arrive in the evening of May 16th and depart the next morning. Since our elders will be there finishing up a Session meeting that night, we should have a little reception and visit time with the students upon their arrival. Anyone else who would like to come is welcome. I'll make some cookies and set up some refreshing beverages. They will return the evening of May 25th.
Look Out!! If you have missed church for more than a year, you will be receiving a letter from me and the Session in the mail. We wish want an update on your life, as well as contact information. This is for people who have formally joined the church, taken membership vows. Please call me if you have any questions about it. You are welcome to call me at 575-708-0860.
Ministering to the Imprisoned (Matthew 25): Friends, it became a resolution during our recent Session Meeting that a couple of us are interested in ministering to those in the Detention Center. If you wish to join us in this effort, please tell me. I can give you a little rundown of what we talked about, what we can do and how to get started. 575-708-0860
May I say...? I love you and then some. You are doing great at serving Jesus the Risen Lord!
See you this week.
