We have had a full week already, with the Green Chile Gals meeting last night, packing up the last of the Rummage Sale stuff (David and Eric pictured here) and then of course getting us geared up again for the "regular schedule" of yoga, quilters and more. For a little church, we sure have a lot happening!
Presbyterian Brotherhood: The inaugural meeting of the Presbyterian Brotherhood took place on Saturday, May 7th at Kix. We had 7 men attend! (plus Kay and yours truly) We resolved to hold a 9AM meeting at Fellowship Hall on Saturday, June 11th, and it looks like they will cook out for us on Fathers' Day for the Congregational Potluck. All men are invited to attend these gatherings. For more information, contact Rev. Tom Miller at 708-9016 or at [email protected].
Drivers Needed: Morgan and Dylan are preparing to go to Indiana @ Purdue University, where they will participate in the Presbyterian Youth Triennium. Drivers will be needed to help them get to and from Alamogordo, where they will be spending the night before their flight (Monday, July 18th) and the night after they return (Sunday, July 24th). The Triennium runs from July 19th-July 23rd). It is an exciting opportunity for them!
Community Health Talks: This Saturday, May 14th at 10AM please come and hear Joy Williams speak about Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Next month, we will host Lola McVey, who will come on June 11th @ 10AM to speak on the Quay Home Visitation Program. Refreshments are provided. Many thanks to Linda Sims-Randals for making these events possible!
Lou Sims Update: Lou continues to be a positive person, as he undergoes physical therapy, as well as hospice care. He is getting practice standing up, and hopes he will be able to be helpful around the house. He enjoys company. They are looking for a family in need to accept the surplus of food they presently have in their house. Please let me know if you know of someone.
Guest Preacher, Ruling Elder Sharon Huffman: As I attend a training this weekend in Arizona (Phoenix), our Elder and Church Treasurer Sharon Huffman will be bringing us a Pentecost sermon. Please be sure to attend worship. She brings a very thoughtful and sound message.
Brown Bag Lunch and Learn June 12th: "There's Theology in my Polity!" How do Presbyterians govern themselves, and why? Bring a brown bag lunch and learn what your pastor is doing this summer at the PC(USA) General Assembly (June 17-26). She will offer two more of these events on the second Sundays of July and August on similar topics.
