This is the Holy Week Edition of 1st Pres Digest... Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!
This past week, Friends, we had 29 people in attendance, waving palms to signify the Lord is in our midst. Palm Sunday is an opportunity to meditate as well as celebrate the Holy King who is so Holy He chose obedience unto death, for our freedom.
We have several things happening this week:
Yoga and the Quilters meet today - Let it be noted that this will be the last week before we have to start making preparations for the Rummage Sale.
Tonight a "Sometime Singers Trio" has practice at 6:15PM. If you would like to join us, please do and it can be a quartet/quintet! We'll meet in the Sanctuary.
Thursday at 6:00PM we have a Maundy Thursday Service. Communion will be celebrated. A handwashing ritual will also be offered, in remembrance of Jesus service of footwashing for his disciples.
And, of course, Easter Sunday Service will be at 11:00AM, followed by a festive potluck luncheon in Fellowship Hall!
The Presbyterian Women have been hard at work planning the Rummage Sale, as well as a Spring Gathering later in May. Please mark your calendars for May 13th, when women from around Sierra Blanca Presbytery will visit Tucumcari for fellowship, worship and learning. The fun begins with registration at 9:30AM. More information to follow!
Other important dates:
Saturday, April 22nd 10:00AM - 2nd Blessing of the Animals service (in the courtyard). Bring your kitties and dogs, gerbils and sheep - or bring a representative of your household to celebrate a brief service of worship for God's Creation. We shall lift all of them with a prayer and blessing. This was originally to be a different day but we have moved it in order to fall on Earth Day. All the community is invited.
Friday/Saturday, April 28-29 - Presbytery of Sierra Blanca Spring Meeting at First Presbyterian Carlsbad.
We begin work on the Rummage Sale as soon as we roll the tables out and the big tables in on Easter Day. There is a lot this year, so the PW decided to begin an extra week in advance. We could use your help anytime between April 16th and the week of the sale. The sale will be May 5-6 from 9:00AM-3:00PM.
There's a lot happening around here! I hope that you find a little time this week to notice the grace of God in your life. See you in church!
