As always, God has blessed us with many joys and also tears. If you missed church on Sunday, you would have heard the announcement that our friend in Christ, Mr. Tom Morris, died on Friday. He was such a good friend to us and faithful to the end.
A service will be this Thursday in our sanctuary at 10:30AM. Tom's family wishes to gather privately afterwards, and has requested that the church not serve a meal.
Our worship on Sunday was rich and rewarding (if I do say so!). We celebrated Holy Communion, we meditated on the Prodigal Son and his brother (Luke 15:11-32) , and we welcomed visitors to the church: Yvette Peacock, David Beal and Don Bryant. Don has visited us a number of times now.
This morning at 7:30, we gave a send off for our Lady Rattlers, who are heading to the next level of the state playoffs. The boys left at 9am.
Let's pray for a safe trip for all our local kids! You can listen to the girls' game today at 3PM on KTNM 1400 or at rdo.to/ktnm.
Looking ahead, we are planning a Maundy Thursday service, which will be on March 24th at 6:00PM. Easter is on March 27th. If you have a special talent you would like to offer for either of these services, please tell me soon! We welcome readers, musicians and anything else you'd like to share, to the glory of God! You are also invited to bring a bell to church on Easter Sunday.
Today, please hold in prayer:
Wayne, getting ready for more tests in a couple weeks.
Matthew Story - needing encouragement
Bob McClelland - family distress
The Morris Family - preparing for Tom's funeral
Tom Anderson - as he continues chemotherapy
For our nation during election year
There are surely many other prayer needs in our community. Please let me know of your needs, by clicking "reply" or "reply to all."
Calling all Men of the Church! Rev. Tom Miller wishes to start up a Presbyterian Men's Group and would like to gather all available and interested men in the church for an organizational meeting. We need a group like this, and invite you to come out and help make it happen. You can contact him at [email protected]. I too will be a part of this meeting.
Tithing is a Spiritual Discipline: Don't forget that if you're not a check-writing or cash-carrying sort of person, you are invited to visit our online giving site at Give Now. Thank you for your generosity.
That's all the news for now. If you see our visitors around town this week, let them know we hope they'll come back. May the grace of God be with you this week!
Love,
Pastor Amy
