This week is off and running with a lot going on, and no thanks to the fact we had to Spring Forward this past weekend!
May you find some moments of peace and regeneration in the Spirit.
We had extra worship time this past week, although some of it was sad, as we had a service for Tom Morris. Click here to read the obituary.
We had a smaller than usual group on Sunday worship, due to many different reasons, depending on to whom you speak with. There were people who forgot about the time change, others traveling and still one or two who were sick. We did have two guests in worship - a man named Kenneth who was passing through from New York, and our friend Ray McKenzie-Young. Thanks to Ray, for he helped us late last year with the cost of repairing the piano :)
Don't forget that THIS SUNDAY is Congregational Supper Day. It's a great time to invite a friend and bring a dish to share!
I am in the midst of much worship planning and seek anyone who has a music gift or a desire to read during worship. You have several opportunities. Here is the rundown of Holy Week events:
This Sunday, which is Palm Sunday - Hosanna!
Maundy Thursday with Holy Communion, March 24th, at 6:00PM
Good Friday - Sanctuary will be open (5-7pm) for people who wish to come and pray.
Holy Saturday - Sanctuary will be open 10-12 noon
11:00AM Easter Sunday worship - bring a bell!
I will be there on Good Friday and Holy Saturday while the Sanctuary is open. It's an opportunity for folks to have time for quiet meditation.
I will be at an Administrative Commission meeting on Thursday night (3/17) in Clovis, meeting with the Session at 1st Clovis, who has expressed their wish to withdraw from the denomination. Please hold them and our commission in prayer as we discern together the way forward.
Attention, Men of the Church! Rev. Tom Miller craves your presence, and this includes the young men of the church, to start planning a Presbyterian Brotherhood, a group which we need to offer. If he doesn't hear from you, he and I will come to your office or home to talk to you about it. You can reach him at 575-708-9016 or at [email protected]. Tom is a retired ordained pastor from the Presbyterian tradition. I cannot begin to tell you what a gift that can be for the Presbyterian Church on the Corner. Please let us know if you would like us to come visit you and we'll set it up :)
Prayer requests:
- Hold Stanley and Sally Fulkerson and their whole family in prayer. Stan's mom died this past week after a lengthy illness. He was an important part of her long-term care and shall miss her.
- Clifford, Molly and Reagan Kenyon. Reagan still needs our prayers as she continues to deal with cancer. BUT, more sad and tragic news came yesterday when her big brother, Reed, was killed in an accident on their family's farm. Please remember them in prayer as they manage their shock and grief.
- Hold in prayer the Harts and Varsallonas, including Matthew Story - they have a lot going on right now.
- Thanksgiving for Lucille's tumor, which has remained "small and stable!"
- Prayers for Wayne and Sharon for their well-being.
- Keep the Morris Family in your prayers, as they grieve for Tom, although suffering is past and he is at rest.
Don't forget this week's events!
Today - High Noon Yoga - bring your mat and wear some comfy clothes
Tomorrow and Friday morning at 9:00AM - Exercise, Eat and Pray
Sunday - Palm Sunday and Potluck. Bible Study at 9:30AM in Library
In case you missed it, I have attached Sunday's sermon. God be with you till we meet again.
Love,
Pastor Amy
