Hope your windy week is off to a good start!
The winds of change are blowing through our congregation. We just had our Annual Congregational Meeting with the following results:
Deacons:
Dr. Jean Corey-Anderson- 2nd term
Completing Barbara Cherry's term (1 year left): Theresa Gallegos-Brake
For her first full term: Anna Lee Schuster
Elders:
Wayne Huffman- 2nd term
For his first full term: David Goldston
Special thank yous to all who have accepted the call to serve. You have my support and prayers, as you do the whole congregation.
My contract/covenant with the church has been renewed. Thank you for your votes of confidence! We're in this together, and thanks be to God that He is with us too!
I am excited that for the first time since I came here almost 6 years ago our Session of Elders will be exactly 50/50 male and female.
Ordination/Installation service for these folks will be during church on Sunday, February 19th.
Call to Meeting: There will be a joint meeting of Elders and Deacons after the Potluck Dinner on Sunday, February 19th. We have some planning to do and a little "light training." The Book of Order also requires a joint meeting at least once annually. Deacons need to select a Moderator and finish their communion assignments. Elders will be choosing an Alternate Presbytery Commissioner and a new Clerk of Session. Betty will be taking a break from that role.
Whew! Now, that our Annual Meeting has happened, it's time to do more ministry and less just talking about it! I hope we can get back to some of that good stuff we do like Community Health Talks and more.
Our Presbyterian Women are looking for a date to meet and plan for the Spring Rummage Sale. I will be getting word out to "All Ya'll" shortly on that.
Fellowship of Presbyterians in Public - I just made that name up today. Several of us are hitting the movie theater tonight, Tuesday, at 7:00PM, to see the new movie, "Hidden Figures" (click on title to see a trailer). Want to come? Just come out to the Odeon and look for us waiting in line for popcorn. And get this, tonight's viewing is at matinee prices! ($4.50/person)
Friends, please remember these folks in your prayers this week:
Jessica and Cameron Mueller - expecting their first child due @Feb 20th
The Schusters at the loss of their niece, Mary Hickman
Elmer Schuster at the loss of an old friend
Thanksgiving for the lovely new decorations in our sanctuary... and for those who helped take down the winter decor!
Travelers
Our nation
Jenna - back pain
Displaced persons seeking a safe home
What prayers am I missing? Please respond and let me know.
I hope and pray that our wind doesn't get so nasty today. Those with allergies need a break!
Be the salt of the earth and light of the world today and always.
In Christ,
Rev. Amy
