What an exciting Sunday we had. Potluck Dinner. Ordination and Installation Sunday for our Elders and Deacons. Please welcome with me our Class of 2021 leadership:
Jenna Morris, Elder (1st term)
Julie Sursa, Elder (2nd term)
AND
Kenna McKenzie-Young, Deacon (1st term)
Marjorie G. McKenzie, Deacon (2nd term)
I personally am grateful to God for continuing to provide us with imaginative and faithful leadership.
Deacons, you have a meeting this Sunday directly after worship. Two of you have told me you'll be out of town, so I will be calling the rest of you to confirm your attendance. We need to name a moderator and choose communion dates.
The Lobsters are coming! Please see the above image, announcing the availability of tickets for the Rotary Club fundraiser. To buy your ticket, you can talk to me, Marge McKenzie or Kelly McFarland from our church, or visit on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/146131582864689/
So, it is now Lent. Lent is not just for Catholics, but for the Holy Catholic, Apostolic church, that is, "Universal." It is a time for us to universally acknowledge our deep need for God's grace, and a chance to press the "re-set" button of our faith. This Sunday's Lectionary Texts will be speaking to this some, thinking on the meaning of "justification by faith." It's going to be fun. Get your vocal chords warmed up to sing:
"Good Morning to You, Good Morning to You!
We're all in our places with bright shiny faces..."
What's going on this week?

Lenten Observations
What are you doing to observe Lent this year? I would love to hear from you. Here are a few ideas:
- Meditate on being a peacemaker in your household or place of business.
- Download and follow "Tread Lightly for Lent" devotional found here.
- Explore and give to the One Great Hour of Sharing special offering we collect every Eastertide. You can find out more here. And we are currently giving out the fish coin boxes for this too!
- Trim back on your energy consumption to make your carbon footprint smaller.
- Donate a portion of your time to charity that matters to you.
- Turn off your electronic devices for one hour a day for prayer and/or reading Scripture.
- Pray for someone in our community who you don't know very well.
Speaking of prayer,
Valverde Family
Travelers
Jerrene Bradley-McCord and her family facing tough choices about her dad
The Schusters' daughter and son in law who are traveling out of country
Becky (Huffman) Lenig and her family who are all sick with strept throat
Mary Rivera (treatment for hip pain)
Those in a time of discernment
Those who choose violence over peacemaking
Our church leaders
The people of Parkland, Florida in their grief and trauma
This country in tumultuous times
Those who are homeless, addicted, mentally unwell
Friends, it's a big week ahead! So, let's go together! May the Lord bless you and keep you today and always.
Love,
Pastor Amy
