Dear Friends:
The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
I am so glad to be back home again, after a brief trip to Louisville, Kentucky to attend the 2018 "Moderators' Conference." I have been voted to serve for one year as the next Moderator of the Synod of the Southwest. I have already told you about some of the responsibilities of that position. I see it as an opportunity for us all as I gain new leadership skills. I believe it will also open up new resources for us as a church as I get to connect more with others across the country and across our four presbyteries. If you want to sit down talk to me about it at any time, please let me know.
I heard we had about 24 people for Sunday worship and potluck had lots of good food! Thanks to Anna Lee for hosting it.
Presbyterian Women: Saturday, December 8th at noon, PW is having their holiday party. All Women of the Church are invited to come.
Gift Basket for our Police Dept: As a "pilot project" the Presbyterian Women are making a gift basket of non-perishable snacks and other useful items (like hand-sanitizer, etc.) for the holidays. Use your imagination! It's a "pilot project" because if we do a good job on this one, we will look at expanding it next year for our other area First Responders. An announcement will be made on Sunday too. Your donation can be brought to the church on Sundays, or call me 575-708-0860 to arrange for a pick up.
On that same note, walk proudly! Our PW made holiday gifts in support of Menaul School, our local CYFD foster care department and Tucumcari Domestic Violence Program and all of them were received joyously.
This Sunday, we are singing "Jesus Shall Reign Where'er the Sun," which hopefully shall echo our missional spirit, and our mission to the world seems to glow more brightly around the holidays. Enjoy that! This Sunday is also Christ the King Sunday, a personal favorite of mine, which signifies the the apex of His Lordship over all powers and principalities.
Thanksgiving is coming! I will spend the holiday in Santa Fe, but I look forward to worshiping with you on Sunday, and finally will be home every Sunday for the rest of the year! I hope that you spend it with the special people in your life and locate God's bounty wherever you are.
May you experience rich blessings in this season of gratitude and take time to enjoy even the smallest gifts that come with the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Love,
Rev. Amy
