The leaves are changing and fall is in the air. Julie Sursa's Special Music on Sunday sums it all up. "End of the summer, God is with us still..." If you missed it, you might have to wait till next year :)
Change is in the air, friends. Hard change, and also good change. No matter what, God is always with us and because of our assurance of His love for us, He goes through it with us.
Change in the City: One change happening is that our city is discerning the revitalization that Tucumcari has so needed for years. We've heard this before, and the city has hired a firm to help us narrow down our many ideas. You are invited to visit the website: https://plantucumcari.com/ and take a survey to assist them in gathering feedback. The more the better! I attended the first information-gathering meeting last week and you can see notes from that meeting here: https://plantucumcari.com/2016/10/21/community-meeting-big-ideas/ The prophet Jeremiah (29:7) says to plant gardens and build houses and have families where you live..."But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare."
Change in Church: It's fall, and that means more fun! This Saturday, Oct 29th at 6:00PM is our Halloween Party! Come in costume, with a snack to share and grab a friend to bring along. If not for you, but to see what our hostess, Kenna McKenzie has cooked up. An event page is located at: https://www.facebook.com/events/291475124584463/ or just share the attached flyer.
More change is afoot, however. We are on the lookout for nominees for Deacons and Elders. We also are starting to prepare for the holiday music. "Yours Truly" is also going to be gone a few times between now and Thanksgiving, so we will be filling the pulpit 2-3 times in November. Get ready to embrace the opportunity to pray for whomever will be our preachers next month. I am, however, your preacher with a bungee cord, because whenever I go somewhere, I always come back!
Change in our Bodies: This Saturday is another "Quay County on the Move" exercise event at Dunn Park at 1PM. It's free, and fun. Everyone is encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes, and walk or jog around the park. They can stop and play various educational fitness games at the stations provided. Prizes will be awarded.
Additionally, mark your calendars for the next Community Health Talk, which will be presented by Mr. Steve Morgan on our Medicare choices. This will be to entertain your questions about your Medicare choices, using his insurance consulting expertise, a bit different from his October presentation. The event will be on Saturday, November 12 at 10:00AM.
Another change (maybe this is happening to you) is those darn allergies...Which brings us to our prayers:
Hold in prayer:
Our community and land in need of rain
Thanksgiving for our new church visitor/next door neighbor, Britt Taylor
For people traveling, including those close to us who drive trucks
Conner family of Guthrie, OK
For our nation
Wilford Gallegos coping after a stroke
Friends, there is a great need for prayer in our lives, and if you have specific requests you desire the church to pray about, please let me know!
This week:
Don't forget Yoga is today at noon in Fellowship Hall!
Tomorrow, Wednesday, Dutch Treat Dames meet at noon at the Cornerstone Deli.
Friday, Pastor Amy will be gone all day at a seminar on "modern Islam" but will be back Friday night.
See you Saturday for the Quay County on the Move and later on at our Halloween party!
May this week be a blessed one for you! Much love and grace,
Rev. Amy
