Our Community and Our Country
I wish to thank the Goldstons, Emily Priddy and Ron Warnick for making sure that some food could be delivered to Glenda Coles over the weekend. Her address is 1711 S 2nd Street. Right now, she should have enough food for a while, but you are welcome to send cards to that address. She wants to tell you all thank you and she loves you. Please know that God heard all of our prayers and that she was able to come home to Tucumcari within 2 days of her surgery.
This past Sunday I focused a lot of the message on the importance of prayer. I discussed some of the differences between going through the motions of a prayer, when we try to do it right, but our heart might not be in it. Then I described the importance of patience and persistence when we approach God in prayer. Did you know that your prayers do not have to always be correct or the same every dwww.presbyterianmission.org/devotion/revised-common-lectionary/2019/10/20/ay. Last Sunday's parable about the persistent woman and the hard-hearted judge (Luke 18:1-8) reveals to us that Jesus calls us to be persistent in prayer, willing to conform our prayers more to what our heavenly judge wants of us. And unlike the judge in that parable, our heavenly judge wants to listen. So, even if you don't know how to pray or what to pray for, just begin talking to God, because you are talking to someone who understands you better than anyone else. (thank God for that!) Just remember to be patient and persistent.

Next week:
Halloween Party November 1st: If you miss out on Game Night, come next Friday, November 1st, for our annual Halloween party! We will be there as early as 5:30PM, so come as soon as you can for the party, in costume, preferably. Please bring a snack to share and invite your friends. There will be fun games and spooky snacks. We need a helper for our hostess, Kenna. Please let us know if you can be her helper!
I will be attending the annual meeting of the Synod of the Southwest this week in Arizona, so I will be out of town this week from Thursday through Saturday afternoon. If anything comes up that needs my attention, please call me or text me. I should be home later Saturday night.
May the Lord bless you and keep you today and always. Love,
Rev. Amy
