The Lord be with you,
Greetings, Friends! And so goes the see-saw weather we're having! Did you happen to catch the 8-9 snowflakes we got on Sunday afternoon? They didn't last long.
We need the moisture and I'm not afraid to pray for it.
Here's what's happening this week at First Presbyterian Church:
Today -
Noon Yoga meets, followed by the Quay-Z Quilters
Tomorrow -
9:00am Exercise, Eat and Pray gathers in the Exercise Room.
Noon - Dutch Treat Dames meet at Cornerstone Deli
Thursday -
Approx. 5:30/6:00PM tune in to KTNM 1400 for the first district basketball game (Rattlers @ Santa Rosa!) The Lady Rattlers are undefeated, by the way.
Sunday -
after church, please remain in the pews for a brief Congregational Meeting, and we'll review 2017, elect our officers and vote whether to keep me around another year :)
Please note I will be in ABQ all of Friday until Saturday afternoon, as Eric gets surgery on his shoulder (outpatient).
I heard such good things from several of you for the worship and supper this past Sunday. I especially want to thank Marjorie for returning from El Paso to play the piano that day, and Julie for hosting the potluck family dinner. We enjoyed the presence of several guests: Gretchen Gurtler, Susie and Raymond Martinez and Mary Rivera. It was a peaceable Kingdom gathered in His name this Sunday.
I mentioned on Sunday that there was an article about the meaningfulness of "Church Dinners" and that it suggests we look at it as symbolic of Jesus own meals with his disciples. Here is a link to that article from Christianity Today. It's short read, so check it out. You have time! Click here. The advice includes the suggestion that we expect Jesus to show up at those dinners. What good advice!
Attached is that sermon "Gone Fishing."
This week is a little harried until we finish our annual meeting this weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing you all there on Sunday!
Expect to see Jesus wherever you are this week and you will surely find Him.
Blessings,
Rev. Amy P
